California Independent Film Festival
Final Deliverables
Objective
In this project I designed an assortment of typographic materials promoting a major design conference. Through this project I developed an aesthetic that complimented the existing brand. Using this aesthetic I created both print and digital marketing materials.
Process
Ideation

I chose the California Independent Film Festival from a given list of conferences and festivals. After choosing this festival I created a mind map of potential imagery. I then researched past posters from this event and other similar events. From this research I began my thumbnail sketches.
Research
I conducted research into other similar events. In this process I looked at how the California Independent Film Festival stands out from its competitors and what weaknesses it has. Additionally I looked at who the target audience is for this event. For this I created three personas. My primary, secondary and tertiary audience.

Implementation
Using the research and sketches I created previously I created the final deliverables for this project. In the main graphic I used for my event deliverables I used a film reel with the film creating the letters for the event acronym. To accomplish this I used an old roll of film to create a reference image. From this I created the vector art used in the graphic. Another main element in the event deliverables is the yellow lines in the background. The shape of this element is based on the lights at the entrance of the theater where this event is hosted every year.
